Childhood booster vaccinations are due once a child turns 4. However, getting parents to once again inflict pain on their little ones is an obstacle in on-time vaccination rates. With a storybook as the main campaign element (they asked for a colouring-in sheet and a brochure) , we flipped this on its head – getting kids to see the jab as something good and to use ‘pester power’ on their parents. It worked! In the first year of the campaign, the 4-year-old on-time vaccination rates jumped from 49% to 81%.

We were there from the very first days of the OPAL (Obesity Prevention And Lifestyle) project, developing key messaging and various campaigns for this landmark social marketing project. Aimed at encouraging healthy eating and physical activity in children by influencing the entire community (doctors, teachers, kids, parents, etc) to support behavioural change, OPAL ran for nearly a decade and became a priority for many local councils.
